Today I spent the morning at Hacienda San Rafael attending the XIII Exposición Nacional de Orquideas. The city has been hosting the event annually for over a decade - a beautiful display of award-winning shapes and colours. Visiting an orchid expo feels like it should be right of passage for anyone planning to visit Colombia for an extended period of time, after all, with over 3,500 species, Colombia does rank #1 in the world for orchid biodiversity. The endemic Cattleya trianae orchid also happens to be the country's national flower. More pictures from the event can be found on my Flickr page.
