Tourist for a Day

November 3, 2014

I've been living in Bogotá's historic district for a little over 2 years now. I remember when I first moved here. Everything was exciting. It was great to be so close to everything. Museums. Theaters. Supermarkets. I often compare life in La Candelaria to that of a small town. Where everyone knows their neighbours and almost everything is within walking distance. Sadly, after 2 years living here, it's become all too normal. I hardly ever go to the theater anymore even though there are free shows nightly only 3 blocks away and going to the store around the corner seems like a chore. So you can imagine what a refresher it was to have my best friend come to visit. She was only here for 4 days, but it was 4 FULL days. Non-stop going out, walking around, taking pictures. We spent a couple of hours just walking through the neighborhood on a nice, sunny day. For more pictures of our stroll through the neighbourhood, you can check out my Flickr album.
